The Marauders came into the home game
on October 17, 1998 with great confidence and rightfully so. They were backed up by an
experienced coaching staff, the help of Jesuit priests, and a home crowd powered by the
Sixth Man and the Pep Band. Like the JV squad, the Varsity' offense struggled in the first
half but the presence of the monstrous defensive line consisting of Josh Day, Brandt Mori,
Mike Catapano, and Mike Luca, brought up the intensity of the game with some big plays.
The first touchdown came in the first half when running back K.C. Maxwell stammered his
way into the end zone making the score 7-0 in favor of Jesuit.
Then, after the Marauder defense stuffed the Viking offense, the Jesuit offense came onto
the field adding three points to the score with a field goal by the star kicker Jared
Siegel. Consequently, the first half ended with the Jesuit Marauders up 10-0 over the
Vikings. As the Marauders are known to play big in the second half, they did just that
with a 45 yard reception to K.C. Maxwell from quarterback Brian Karns resulting with seven
more points on the scoreboard. In addition, Bell turned on the after burners to run a 65
yard td pass after a quick pitch from Karns.
