Touchdown!

What a delight the first half turned out to be! The number four ranked Yuba City Honkers came to number two ranked Jesuit and gave them a good fight. The Marauders won the coin toss and chose to receive to try to get the momentum going while the Sixth Man and Pep Band motivated the team and the rest of the crowd. Right from the get go, the Marauders showed their confidence when Senior quarterback Brian Karns threw a beautiful pass to stand out receiver Ryan Parilo for 40yards. Then it was time to spread the ball as full back Jeff Reiman and running back Charles Bell took over paving their way through the Honker defense. However, Yuba City's defense knew they were not ranked number 4 in the city for no reason, and they revealed it by intercepting a what would have been a Brian Karns to Ryan Parilo touchdown. Starting from the one-yard line, the Honker quarterback, Jenson, marched his team 99 yards down the field and into the end zone on a quarterback sneak with the help of some heavy penalties against Jesuit.

JT gets pumped      The Marauders were shocked, for they had never been down during any game of the season, but they were not going to let Yuba City come to the Marauder House of Terror and beat on them. The great coaching staff consisting of Head Coach Dan Carmazzi, Coach Evans, and Coach Harper showed patience and made the right calls to bring Jesuit back into the game. Consequently, after a solid defensive drive consisting of tackles from Mike Catapano and Ashur Benjamin, the Marauder offense got onto the field and showed Yuba City who's boss. Jesuit's Brian Karns put on a tremendous drive by throwing to Ryan Parilo and Charles Bell, and then letting Jeff Reiman explode his way through the Yuba City defense. Then, it was second and goal on the one-yard line, and Brian Karns connected with a diving Ryan Parilo in the back of the end zone making the score 7-7.

High-five      Jesuit's defense proved to everyone time and time again why they were undefeated by stuffing Yuba City with big plays from Brandt Mori, Ben Sharpe, and two way starter Jeff Reiman. The Honkers were forced to punt and it was time for the Marauders to take the lead. Charles Bell ran a fine run back on the punt return giving Jesuit excellent field position and then scored a touchdown running 15 yards after catching a pass from Karns. The score turned tables and Jesuit captured the lead making the score 14-7. The crowd was cheering with the Sixth Man and everyone could hear them, but Yuba City would not give up. Honker quarterback Jenson and running back Moore did some damage to the Jesuit defense by running 30 yards on a bootleg and throwing effectively, but Ben Sharpe had the "not in my house" attitude and made a huge play by tackling Moore on a third down forcing Yuba City to punt. Time was ticking down in the second half and with one minute left, Jesuit was backed up by the Honkers and was forced to punt. However, after Jared Siegal punted a beauty, the Honkers returner ran into one of his own players fumbling the ball. All star Justin Thomas saw this and recovered the fumble giving Jesuit one more chance to score to lengthen the lead. On the very next play, Casey Young caught a pass from Karns and ran 18 yards after the catch and then dove into the land of quick six putting Jesuit up 21-7.

Well, everyone gets tackled sometimes...

The second half was a replica of any other second half Jesuit had during the season in which Jesuit piled on the points from great players like Jeff Reiman and Charles Bell. In addition, tight end Kelly Micco did a terrific job getting first downs for the Marauders. The Jesuit defense performed tremendously with huge games from Mike Catapano, Josh Day, Brandt Mori, Mike Lucca, James Jiminez, and Justin Thomas. Furthermore, the offensive line consistently gives Karns all the time in the world and has not allowed Karns to get sacked. These linemen consist of Joe De Anda, who was chosen as an all league player, Scott Nygard, Nick Clark, Ashur Benjamin, and Garth Peot. It was too late for the Honkers to do anything, for time was scarce and the score ended with Jesuit on top 41-13. The Yuba City Honkers gave Jesuit a challenge and had a great season going 9-2. Next week, Jesuit will play Woodland at Jesuit on Saturday the 28th, so be there and thanks to all the fans, Sixth Man, and Pep Band. The winner of the Jesuit vs. Woodland game will go on to face the winner of the Elk Grove vs. Grant game. Let's go Marauders!
