JV Football team gets closer to reaching 10-0
by cruising over Sac High
49-0
By Sargon Benjamin
Realizing that they hold the fate of the 4 year undefeated streak of previous JV
squads, this year's Marauder's JV team is keeping the streak
alive under the pressure of losing the remarkable record. However, with talented players
like Josh Jimenez, Tim Swanston,
and Chris Catapano, this deep team is willing to battle any
team that gets in its way. The Jesuit Marauders found the
Sacramento Dragons at their field on Halloween Saturday, and gave them a treat they will
never forget. Right from the get go, Jesuit showed its dominance by running through the
middle and passing right into the heart of the Dragons' defense. Tight end Jake Stanfill caught a pass from Chris Leary
and ran right over one of Sac High's players running down the field for over 35 yards.
With confidence building, Josh Jimenez sprinted into the end
zone bringing the Marauders on top. Then Jesuit's defense
came onto the field. Explosive defensive end Eric Price started Sac High's offensive drive
by sacking their quarterback for a great loss and defensive tackle Scott Cavell led the
team in tackles. The score board read 35-0 Jesuit at the end of the first half.
Quarterback Josh Jimenez kneels down on the last play of the game,
letting the clock run out to a 49-0 Jesuit victory.
The second half was a mirror image of the first half with Jesuit's bench getting a
great amount of experience as well as humiliating Sac High. However, Sac High was not
ready to give up yet. After Jesuit kicked off, they played a game of trickery on the kick
return never seen before and gained 60 yards off the play. The trickery consisted of
handing the ball to numerous players and than having the ball carrier run down the field;
consequently, it worked. However, it was too little too late, for Josh
Jimenez would run four for touchdowns and Chris Leary
along with Phil Corda intercepted a couple passes proving
Jesuit's depth. The final score was 49-0 Jesuit. Let's go JV!
