JV Basketball Squad from Jesuit demolishes the Falcons
by Sargon Benjamin
If one was to pick from the three basketball teams and choose which one
was most dominant over their opponents, it would have to be the JV team.
Three reasons for this are sophomores Jacob Stanfill, Andrew Lindsey, and
Ceasor Dennis. When these three players are on the court, Jesuit plays
great basketball on both sides of the ball and almost all opponents dread
the sight of all those key players on the court at the same time. To
back them up are solid players like Brett Dalton, Antwan Sutton, and Adam
Harper. With this in mind, the JV Marauder team dominated the first
quarter by running the trap on defense and going to the hole;
consequently, they had a 16-7 lead. In the second quarter, Antwan Sutton
got in and started making the outside baskets giving Jesuit a 32-14 lead.
After the Christian Brother Cheerleaders put on a great performance at
half time, the Marauders came back and Jacob Stanfill started making the
lay-ups and blocking the balls providing himself with an all around great
game. The sophomore Falcons could do nothing but watch in awe as Jesuit
kept scoring. In addition, sophomore class president Noel Cabello played
well contributing to the team with a couple of baskets and great play in
the guard position. Therefore, Jesuit won the game in a 64-44 shutout.
