History
by: Seth Cohen 99'

The poor black boy stood naked in the dust.
Blood, dripped down his bare back, because he was black.
How can this persecution be just?
The whip whistled and cracked thrashing his back,
The blood pooled under his feet, he stood crying.
He had been stripped of all his dignity.
No one cared that he was slowly dying.
This is the greatest cruelty, slavery.
Horror gripped the cold night, hatred was at its height.
Men with hoods danced around the burning cross.
They screamed and yelled about the black man's plight.
They believed that the white man had to be boss.
This is all American history.
A country based on equality.
