Movies you should see!
By Patrick Reynolds
Ghostbusters
Ghostbusters part 1 and 2 are my favorite movies.
In fact Ghostbusters was the first movie I ever saw. It has been my favorite
ever since. This movie has lots of great actors and special effects. Even
though it was made over ten years ago it still has great special effects. They are very
funny movies and I recommend that you watch them right away and that you watch them
multiple times.
Beetlejuice
Beetlejuice is one of a great line of Tim Burton
movies. It is about a dead couple who want the people who moved into their house to
leave. Antics ensue. I love this movie as well. If I didn't I probably
wouldn't write about it. It stars Michael Keaton as Beetlejuice. He does a
great job as the B-man. As with Ghostbusters, watch this movie often!
Austin
Powers
A fine example of the genius that is Mike Myers.
This movie has some of the greatest characters you have ever seen and some of the
funniest lines you have ever heard. As you may well know, Austin Powers is a secret
agent that had himself cryogenically frozen so he could combat the evil Dr. Evil (great
name!) when he came back. This movie is so funny you have to watch it over and over
just to get the full worth of the jokes. You won't mind watching a lot of times
either!
Indiana
Jones
Many the world over have enjoyed all three of the
Indiana Jones movies. The movie stars Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones. Mr.
Jones or should I say Dr. Jones is an archaeologist. He also teaches archaeology in
college. He isn't you typical or even stereotypical archaeologist. He doesn't
spend much time sitting around and digging. He prefers adventure. He travels
into temples of Doom or fights against raiders of the lost ark. In his latest movie,
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Indy searches for the Holy Grail. But the expert
on the Holy Grail was kidnapped. The expert was none other than Indiana's father
(played by Sean Connery!). These movies are filled with action. If you haven't
seen any of these movies, I recommend that you get up from under that rock you've been
hiding under and rent if not buy these movies today!
UHF
UHF is a movie that many won't give much thought
because it was made and starred "Weird Al" Yankovic. It is in fact a very
funny movie. Al's character has an overactive imagination and he becomes the owner
of a near bankrupt television station. He decides to create some of his own shows.
The response is enormous. The people love it and ratings go through the roof.
It has some memorable shows in it like Wheel of Fish, Gandhi 2 and Raul's Wild
Kingdom. This is a great movie!
Star Wars
Nearly everyone in the whole world has seen these
movies. What can I say that hasn't been said already? It has sold billions of
dollars in tickets. Its toy lines have sold millions and the movies have brought in
a pretty penny as well. Anything that Star Wars touches turns to gold if not
platinum. The movie was written by George Lucas. It starred Mark Hamil, Carrie
Fisher, and Harrison Ford. To many, Star Wars isn't just a movie, it is a way of
life. Believe the hype and watch the movie again.
Army Of Darkness
One movie from an unsuspecting trilogy of funny
movies. It is part of the Evil Dead trilogy. The name doesn't sound funny but
it is. The main character Ash (Bruce Campbell) is sent back into the middle ages to
defend the necronomicon ex-mortus (book of the dead) from the deadites. Now that
doesn't seem very funny but the little twists and turns that this movie takes are
hilarious. For example, before Ash can pick up the book of the dead he must say
three words. He says the first two without a hitch. The last one is a
different story. All he can remember is that it starts with an "N".
He says the first two words and mumbles the last. Nothing happens so he picks up the
book and walks back. He didn't say the words correctly so he (you guessed it) woke
up the dead. When he finally gets back to the castle, the sorcerer asks if he said
the words right. Ash's reply, "Yeah, basically." Should you see this
movie? "Yeah, basically." Not basically, definitely! |
