On this scenic
Big Wood Adventure, you will be picked up at the Sun Valley / Haley Airport. Winging into this picturesque valley will start the adrenaline flowing as you touchdown next to the beautiful Big Wood River. A sense of wonder might overcome you as we travel along side the same River that Ernest Hemingway loved to fish. Stars of the Silver Screen such as Clark Gable and Gary Cooper traveled to this wondrous fishery to do battle with these hearty Rainbows. Today's movie stars Bruce Willis and Jamie Lee Curtis love this area so much that they call this valley their home. With all the glamour this area has held over the years for both summer and winter activities, it still holds a feel of a rustic old frontier mining community.
In addition to fishing the Big Wood, on this trip we also travel to and camp along side the legendary Silver Creek. There is a stretch of river belonging to the highly acclaimed Nature Conservancy that is Fly Fishing, catch and release only and also has a stretch that is Float Tube only. (Because advanced technique is required, we recommend this trip to the more experienced fly fisherman.) This gem of southern Idaho is fed by the springs that percolate from the Big Wood, which is rich in food and nurtures a healthy population of sizable trout. Depending on our success, we might also travel to near by Magic Reservoir or Little Wood River, or any other body of fishable water in between. There are endless possibilities.
This area is so special to Big Wood Adventures that we have named our business after this outstanding freestone river and we are sure this area will also infect you with it's charm and beauty. An added bonus to this latitude is that it is possible to fish a full 12 hours. Can you stand that much fun!
On this Big Wood Adventure, we will be enjoying the Prime Rib dinner at the Pioneer Saloon and eating gourmet food streamside. These delicacies will haunt your memories, and your feats of angling will provide years of palm sweating, tortured visions of the one that surely, "Got Away".

American River Salmon Fishing
For many here in the Sacramento area this trip provides an opportunity to explore a piece of your own backyard that many anglers travel many miles to enjoy. We are very fortunate to have this river so close to us.
To begin your Big Wood Adventure, you and your guest will meet our Guide at Nimbus Dam off of nearby highway 50. Your quarry will be the Chinook salmon that, in some years, can average 20-40 pounds. Trout, Shad, Small Mouthed Bass, and Striped Bass might also be worth fishing for.
You will leisurely drift down the scenic American River fishing from our 14ft River Guide Raft that is fitted with fore and aft high backed swivel seats for your optimum comfort and fishing ease.
Not only will you have the opportunity to land a brute, but you can also look forward to a great meal that is not your standard Sack Lunch. As usual, Big Wood Adventures believes that good food is essential for the full enjoyment of the Outdoors and we will have it!!
